Parish Council Allotments

Cayton Parish Council manages two allotment sites within the village. These plots provide residents with the opportunity to grow fruit, vegetables, and flowers, and form an important part of our local community.

Allotment Locations

  • West End View Allotments – a long‑established site with a smaller site offering standard plots.
  • Killerby Allotments – a flexible site providing a range of plot sizes to suit both new and experienced growers.

Both sites are overseen by the Parish Council, which is responsible for tenancy agreements, waiting lists, and general site management.

Applying for an Allotment

Residents who wish to join the waiting list must complete an Allotment Registration of Interest Form. This ensures we have the information needed to contact you when a plot becomes available.

How to submit your form

Completed and signed forms can be returned in any of the following ways:

  • By email – send a scanned copy or a clear photograph of the signed form
  • By post – addressed to: Cayton Parish Council, Jubilee Hall, Main Street, Cayton, YO11 3TF
  • By hand – forms may also be posted through the Jubilee Hall letterbox

Once received, your name will be added to the waiting list (if open) and we will contact you when a suitable plot becomes available. Please note that demand is high and waiting times can vary.

Annual Cost

Year Full Plot Half Plot
2026/27 £22.00 £11.00
2027/28 £32.50 £17.00

Fees are due 1st April each year by bacs and from 2027/28 and annual increase of 5% shall apply unless otherwise notified.

Allotment payments should be made by online or telephone banking, or paid in at a bank branch or Post Office, as recent banking changes require a debit card to verify cash deposits and the Council does not hold a debit card.

Bank details

  • Name: Cayton Parish Council
  • Sort Code: 608301
  • Account Number: 20491518

When making payment please quote the allotment site (Killerby or West End View) followed by your allotment number, as shown on your agreement.

Tenancy and Site Management

Allotment holders are required to sign a tenancy agreement outlining responsibilities for cultivation, maintenance, and respectful use of the site. Regular inspections are carried out to ensure plots are kept in good condition.

If your circumstances change and you no longer require your plot, please notify the Parish Council so it can be reallocated.
