Introduction
Residents in Cayton could benefit from a government-funded scheme designed to make homes warmer, more energy efficient and cheaper to run.
The Warm Homes Local Grant (WH:LG) is now available across North Yorkshire, helping eligible lower-income households access energy-saving home improvements at little or no cost. The programme is funded by the Government and delivered locally by North Yorkshire Council.
What it can cover
The grant can support a range of improvements, including:
- Loft, cavity wall and solid wall insulation
- Low-carbon heating systems such as heat pumps
- Solar panels and battery storage
- Draught-proofing measures
- Smart heating controls
- Energy-efficient doors, windows and ventilation improvements
Aim of the scheme
- Reduce household energy bills
- Tackle fuel poverty
- Support the UK’s net zero carbon emissions target by 2050
Funding is currently focused on homes where improvements can be delivered most effectively, particularly properties in Council Tax Bands A to D and those of standard construction types. Funding is limited and subject to availability.
Both homeowners and some private tenants may qualify, subject to income and property eligibility criteria. All properties will be assessed to determine the most suitable improvements, with upgrades tailored to individual homes.
Residents interested in finding out whether they qualify can check their eligibility and register their interest through the Government’s Warm Homes Local Grant application process. Registering an interest does not automatically guarantee eligibility.
