North Yorkshire Police are encouraging residents to attend a free Community Water Safety Event taking place at North Yorkshire Water Park, Wykeham, on Wednesday 23 September, from 10.00am to 2.00pm.
The event will bring together emergency services and partner organisations dedicated to promoting safety in and around water. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet local Coastguard and Mountain Rescue teams, along with other safety organisations, and learn more about:
- Staying safe around rivers, lakes, reservoirs and the coast
- Recognising water-related risks and hazards
- What to do if you get into difficulty in the water
- How to help someone safely without putting yourself at risk
- The correct action to take in a water-related emergency
- Essential lifesaving advice that could help save a life
Whether you enjoy swimming, paddleboarding, fishing, sailing, walking or simply spending time outdoors, the event offers practical advice and information for people of all ages.
